Another NZ debutante to be unveiled at Seymour

Kooky might soon be one to add to our wave of future stars in the new year, if she can salute on debut this Thursday at Seymour.

Kooky was brought over from New Zealand at the start of 2023 as a 3yo to join the team of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr. in Cranbourne. After her arrival and a short time in the stables, Kooky went for a spell and returned to work in May. She finished her first preparation with the stable after two trials and went out for another break to develop and mature further.

Now a 4yo, Kooky returned to training in September and has been building up her work slowly. She completed three trials in preparation for her first race start this Thursday. Her latest trial, which she won, was also contested by recent winner Fretta, who is also highly rated by the Price/Kent team.

“She had a nice 1000m gallop on the grass on Saturday morning. She has improved a lot this campaign and should go well on debut on Thursday.”, said trainer Mick Price to owners.

Kooky will take her place in the 1414m Maiden at Seymour and will jump from barrier 2 with Jordan Childs in the saddle. See the full field and all race details here.

Best of luck to all connections of Kooky!
