A Strong Hand in Play for this Weekend’s OTI Runners

A busy weekend ahead for OTI, kicking off with the Chinese New Year twilight meeting at Moonee Valley. Wee Gilly starts in the BM70 Pinchapoo Handicap over 2040m for Archie Alexander as her third up run this prep. With race fitness on her side, Jordan Childs is back on board and we hope to see them hitting the line strongly.

The first edition of the Inglis Millenium race day at Warwick Farm takes place on Saturday and we have High Bridge making his racing debut after a recent spell. Trainer Chris Waller is pleased with the horse’s progress and is looking to see a sharp finish in the mile handicap. Having drawn wide, jockey Brenton Avdulla will need to ride tactically to suit during the early stages.

Another horse making their race debut this preparation is Night’s Watch in the Group 3 Carlyon Cup over 1600m at Caulfield. In form jockey Damien Lane takes to the irons and reports are that he was delighted with his recent track gallop. After a recent move to the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace camp, the horse has settled in beautifully and is primed for his first-up run.

Le Juge heads to Doomben on the back of two wins from his last three starts, heading a field of just ten runners. Teaming up with Robbie Fradd once again, this duo looks hard to beat! In fine winning form, Chris Waller believes the jockey and horse suit each other well and is looking forward to seeing another strong performance.

Sunday sees three runners at Colac for Colac Cup Day, all of whom have drawn either barriers one or two. Stone Warrior jumps in the 1600m BM70 in a tight field of eight runners, whilst Instigator and Scherzoso both take on the Colac Gold Cup. A VOBIS Gold race, Scherzoso has the opportunity to take home a bonus package, whilst Instigator is having his first start in Australia. Having won his recent trial at Geelong by a considerable margin, Instigator looks to have brought his German Group racing form down under. His new owners are looking forward to seeing him in action!

Best of luck to all of our runners and their connections and happy racing.
