Comme Bella Fille debuts for John O’Shea and OTI today

After finishing strongly for a 3rd placing behind subsequent Group 3 winner Whimsical, Comme Bella Fille cemented her credentials with an emphatic win at her 3rd start in early February at Matamata. Following the impressive last to first victory, OTI bloodstock advisor Phil Cataldo quickly secured an option to purchase Comme Bella Fille.

Terry Henderson was equally impressed with the New Zealand bred filly, who has the makings of an exciting staying prospect “a strong finisher, this well-bred, powerful filly has shown all the qualities to suggest she will succeed as a high-quality middle distance/staying type” said Henderson.

Promptly placed with John O’Shea, who formally trained her sire Complacent, was also so impressed with the filly that he acquired an interest for his clients. Comme Bella Fille arrived at Randwick in early March, where she settled in seamlessly, displaying an utmost level of professionalism in her work.

Earlier this month, the three-year-old stepped out in an open trial alongside stakes-winning sprinters, including Group 3 winner Prague, “She tracked up well for a staying filly and got to the line nicely in the last 100m. She is a beautiful filly with a great action; that was a nice start to her Australian campaign” said her trainer John O’Shea.

After finishing off strongly in a second Australian trial, Comme Bella Fille will make her Australian race debut in the OTI silks at Wyong today in a BM64 (Race 6 – 4:15 pm) over 1350m with Rachel King booked for the ride.

“Her two trials were indicative that she is still learning her craft; today, she will be ridden quietly with a view to be finishing strongly again” said O’Shea.

We look forward to seeing her debut today and wish her connections the very best of luck!
