In this edition of the Gazette, we chat with young apprentice Jaylah Kennedy, who took out the Victorian Country Apprentice Premiership for the 2023/24 season.
We reflect on a most successful season, preview our weekend contenders, hear from the Barrier Rogue and introduce our latest trial-winning acquisition.
CHAT WITH JAYLAH KENNEDY
“I never thought becoming a jockey was going to be easy, so I always thought I was going to be prepared for how it would feel to go a month or two without a winner/not being on the best horses but it definitely is a lot harder mentally than anything. It’s very easy to get in your own head and make yourself think you’re not riding good enough but at the end of the day you’re only as good as what you’re sitting on!”

HAPPY NEW RACING YEAR!
“The 2023/24 racing year is now behind us, and like New Year’s Eve, it prompts both reflection and plans. Overall, OTI owners enjoyed a wonderful year with 114 wins and 20 black-type or feature race successes. Our Group 1 winner honour’s board continued to grow, with Lady Laguna and Warmonger being the latest to add their names to it.”
