OTI Gazette | Issue 118

In this edition of the Gazette, we have an insightful chat with Matthew Scown, who is an integral part of Yarraman Park Stud who stand Champion Stallion I Am Invincible.

We reflect on the passing of warhorse Cepheus, preview our weekend chances, catch up on OTI’s spring runners, learn more about Bagot and Standish and introduce a half-sister to Group 2 winner Daqiansweet Junior.

CHAT WITH MATTHEW SCOWN

There’s no hiding that stud work and the breeding season is very time consuming, but fortunately I work for some very family orientated people. Being a family run farm, Harry and Arthur have welcomed my family in as part of theirs and we feel right at home here. I get to see my kids in the morning, during lunch and again straight after work. There’s not many jobs where you would be able to do that.”

A KINGDOM FOR A HORSE…

“Both I’m Thunderstruck and Cepheus were remarkable horses. Both gave their connections some unforgettable days on the racetrack. From completely different backgrounds, with completely different pedigrees, they were as different in their racing styles as horses could be.”
