OTI’s ladies syndicate will be represented this Saturday as their exciting two-year-old Lassified takes a significant step up in class in the Group 2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes (1100m) at Trentham, New Zealand. The daughter of Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside made the perfect start to her career and now gets her chance to chase valuable black type at just her second raceday appearance.
Lassified announced her talent when winning on debut in the LA Stud 2YO (1000m) at Tauherenikau on November 8. The Inglis Classic graduate indicated early ability at the trials and translated that on race day. where she used her gate speed to press forward and lead, holding off Vahvay by a long neck. The victory also marked Stay Inside’s third first-crop winner, continuing a strong start to his stud career.
Lassified wins on debut in November.
Lassified now steps out in stakes company for the first time, and her trainer Andrew Forsman couldn’t be more pleased with her progress. “She handles everything so nicely and has a great attitude. We’re looking forward to Saturday,” said Forsman.
The stable has always held a good opinion of the filly, and her toughness and natural speed make her a strong candidate to perform well at this level. A competitive run on Saturday would not only enhance her record but also boost her future value.
With only one race day outing under her belt so far, Lassified appears to have plenty of upside, and the Wakefield Challenge Stakes presents the ideal first test at this early stage. OTI connections will be watching eagerly as she takes her place in the Group 2, hopeful she can take the next step in what promises to be an exciting career.
