THE HARD WORK IS DONE

Over the past year, OTI has overseen the development of a promising young filly named Misso.  With three jump outs now under her belt for experience, we expect Misso to graduate to racing in her upcoming preparation and make an immediate impact.

The hard work is done.  We now know she can gallop, as evidenced by her trial performances, and believe she has many wins in store.

This filly looks best suited to short-course racing. The sire tends to produce horses with good tactical speed.  She has the added benefit of Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold bonuses, so her income earning potential when at the races is further enhanced.

Misso has ventured to the jumpouts/trials on three occasions. She was very close to a race start in her most recent preparation. However, in the best interests of a filly continuing to grow, Amy Johnston elected to err on the side of caution and sent her to the paddock for further physical maturation.

We had well-respected trial analyst Matt Welsh recently assess Misso’s three jumpouts/trials to date and he was most impressed with what he saw.  His summary of her progression to date was:

Misso has shown good improvement in her trials. She is a tractable filly that doesn’t show a tendency to over-race or lay in/out. All three jump-outs have shown a good degree of ability and her racing manners are excellent. This filly will continue to improve into her 3YO year and make her presence felt when at the races.

Magnus is one of Victoria’s most undervalued stallions, having sustained a career at stud now for 10 seasons. Dual Group 1 winning sprinter, Malaguerra, is his most noted progeny. However, the likes of Great Shot (recent Group 1 winner) and Enbihaar (recent Group 2 winner) have stimulated a return to prominence for the stallion. Magnus tends to throw strong, fast-running types and this filly is appears testament to that.

This filly’s dam, The Girlfriend, produced the Stakes winning colt, Mister Milton. Her second dam is Survive, a prolific broodmare that left Go On Now, the dam of multiple-stakes winning galloper, Rudy.

Misso will return to work again with Amy Johnston towards the end of May, with a view to a full-racing preparation this time in. We can expect her to be hitting the races around August 2018.

There are numerous valuable, three-year-old filly sprint/middle-distance races available to Misso in the late winter/early spring.

She is now fully educated and appears ready for racetrack enjoyment.
