The Story

A Compelling Prospect for Australia

Whilst the colt’s name, Steve Miswaki, may have raised a few eyebrows, there was no hesitation when it came to the horse himself. This colt is one of the more intriguing European prospects we’ve acquired in recent years, purchased with the background knowledge that gave us real confidence.

Still very green during his breeze, to the point of nearly unseating his rider, one quality stood out above everything else: his effortless, lengthy stride. Combined with his size, strength, scope and natural athleticism, he immediately looked the type of horse capable of thriving under Australian conditions.

Steve Miswaki is a son of World Champion 3YO St Mark’s Basilica, whose race record included a remarkable sequence of five Group 1 victories, three of them achieved within just 29 days. His first crop has already produced two Group 1 winners, including a Classic winner, as well as multiple other Group winners. This marks him as one of Europe’s most exciting young stallions.

He will join the stable of astute trainer Matthew Dunn, who has had over 125 winners this season with a staggering strike rate of over 25% in NSW. The colt will arrive in Australia in mid-August before commencing an introductory preparation in September, with a view to targeting the Sydney Autumn/Brisbane Winter Carnivals as a three-year-old.

Wholesale opportunities are available for experienced owners with a budget in excess of $10,000.
