Cuellar is a quality 2yo colt by Almanzor in training with renowned French trainer Fabrice Chappet in Chantilly.
This colt was secured privately as a yearling through our strong relationship with Haras d’Etreham, one of France’s leading stud farms and the previous home of Almanzor. In selecting him, we were particularly taken by his athleticism and physical scope. While still maturing, he is expected to grow into a well-balanced 16.1-hand horse. He moves with a loose, fluent walk and a great overstep.
As outlined by Terry Henderson in the video below, the colt has excelled through his early education and is now in full work with Fabrice Chappet, who expects to have him racing in the latter part of his 2-year-old season.
With top-class milers in each generation of his family, this colt looks set to be effective as a late 2-year-old before being assessed as a Guineas/Derby type. The strength on Almanzor’s side of his pedigree could well stretch him to 2000m and beyond, as many of his forebearers have done at the top level.
Being French bred, Cuellar is eligible for the 75% premiums on top of prizemoney earned during his two and three-year-old seasons. At the end of his three-year-old season, the plan is to bring him to Australia. Any commercial opportunities that arise during the early part of his career will also be considered.
Wholesale opportunities are available for experienced horse owners with a budget in excess of $7,500. Please contact the OTI team to learn more.
