The Story

Probation is an exciting, lightly raced three-year-old stayer who has announced himself with back-to-back victories by a combined 13¾ lengths.

After two impressive wins (replays enclosed below), he is now ready to be tested against some of the best European three-year-old stayers in either the A$350,000 Melrose Handicap at York, or the A$140,000 Mallard at Doncaster.

Although both races attracted only three runners, they were emphatic efforts and, importantly, provided an excellent indication of his versatility and staying qualities.

Terry inspected Probation at the Philippart de Foy’s yard on July 30 and was immediately impressed by him as an individual. Standing at approximately 16 hands, he is a very athletic, well-balanced bay gelding with the physical characteristics expected of a quality stayer.

Probation represents an exciting opportunity to acquire a progressive three-year-old stayer at the stage of his career when his potential is already apparent.

(a) We may collect personal information from you whenever you input such information into the website.
(b) We also collect cookies from your computer which enable us to tell when you use the website and also to help customise your website experience. As a general rule, however, it is not possible to identify you personally from our use of cookies.
