When Mikel Delzangles rang Terry Henderson recommending the acquisition of this French-bred filly, we were quick to act. Mikel has an excellent reputation for selecting quality young horses that go on to be Champions.
Since her acquisition, Paradia has done everything required by Mikel to live up to the reputation he foresaw for her. Athletic in looks and motion, this filly is a classic type who will race as a late two-year-old before being prepared for the three-year-old Classics in France in 2019. The attraction to her owners is further enhanced by the strong commercial value the filly will attract should she reach Stakes quality.
At 16 hands, this bay filly is already showing precociousness on the track. Although bred to race up to 2500m, the filly is giving every indication that she will be effective from 1600m upwards. No doubt her temperament assists, however, she also appears to be able to accelerate far quicker than expected from the normal middle distance/stayer type.
There is no doubt that the filly’s conformation will be of great attraction to breeders at the end of her racing career. Again she has the characteristics of an attractive mare.
Paradia should race as a mid-to-late season two-year-old. At this stage, she appears to be a 1600m to 2500m type, so it is highly likely she will be aimed at the Stakes races in September and October for two-year-old fillies with such characteristics. The two-year-old season will lay the foundation for a full three-year-old year where the main targets will be races like the French Guineas and the Prix d’Diane, the two French Classics over 1600m and 2100m respectively.
The pedigree of this filly is superior in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Authorized, the filly’s sire has produced local topliners including Hartnell, Signoff and Complacent, while in Europe, the G1 Royal Ascot winner, Seal of Approval, is one of his 30 + Stakes winners. Authorized, an English Derby winner himself, was by the dual Arc winner and Champion sire Montjeu.
Pluie d’Or (meaning Golden Rain in English) is by top European stallion Bering, out of the Arazi mare, Prairie Runner. A winner over 2900m as a racehorse, Pluie d’Or has produced two winners of staying distances. Her third foal, named Golden Rain, has finished second twice in quality races over
1600m.
