A standout at the recent New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Sale was this filly, by boom first season sire, Vadamos. She incorporates the most desirable of bloodlines with her dam, Penthouse Princess, a daughter of Pentire. Adding to her standing, Penthouse Princess is a full sister to Melbourne Cup winner, Prince of Penzance.

The key characteristics that led our desire to acquire her are:

  • She is an athletic, well-balanced type who covers the ground effortlessly on parade. As far as our advisors and we are concerned, she was the superior filly of the sale.
  • Throughout the Karaka Sale process in New Zealand, she showed mental maturity beyond her years.
  • The demand for the filly was strong, with major racing operations contesting the bidding process. The under-bidders included Ciaron Maher & Paul Moroney.
  • The filly will campaign in both New Zealand & Australia. Ambitions are to target three-year-old middle distance and staying classics, with an eye to permanently relocate her to Australia in the latter part that season.
  • With such quality bloodlines, any success on the racetrack would result in significant value as a broodmare for her life after racing.

The filly will initially be trained by Roger James, a renowned preparer of champion fillies. He has tasted success 18 times at G1 level, with his mare Silent Achiever the most noteworthy. Roger currently trains Hasstobegood for OTI, who ran a bold third in the recent Karaka Million 3yo Classic.

With costs paid to May 31, 2020 and insurance cover in place until July 31, 2020, a 5% interest is valued at $15,250 (GST only payable once the filly moves to Australia).
