We are thrilled to introduce Pak Belang, a most exciting two-year-old who has created a significant impression with dominant victories in both of his South Australian trials. While OTI has not traditionally sourced many horses from South Australia, Pak Belang’s performances were simply too impressive to ignore.
Pak Belang was privately referred by his trainer, Travis Doudle, who had already received strong interest from other parties but was keen to retain the gelding within his stable.
Replays of Pak Belang’s two trial victories can be found below.
- 1000m at Murray Bridge (Latest Trial): Displayed a sharp turn of foot when asked to extend, quickly putting the field away and drawing clear to score by over 3 lengths.
- 1050m at Oakbank (First Trial): Showed natural early speed before continuing to lengthen strongly under light riding, winning with plenty in hand on the line.
He is by first-season sire Tiger of Malay, whose early results have been particularly promising given his modest $11,000 service fee. He currently sits fifth on the first- season sires’ premiership by prizemoney and has already produced metropolitan winners in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane.
Pak Belang’s trainer, Travis Doudle, has established himself among South Australia’s leading trainers and currently sits second on the South Australian Trainers’ Premiership, operating at a strike rate in excess of 18%.
Pak Belang appears a young horse blessed with abundant natural talent and significant upside. With his trainer convinced he can develop into a high-class three-year-old, we believe he represents an outstanding opportunity and exceptional value.
