Standing an impressive 16 hands, Madero is a strongly built chestnut three-year-old colt with an easy, loose walk and excellent presence.
On the track, Madero has raced 10 times for two wins and three placings, with all but his debut victory coming at Listed or Group level. A Listed winner typically racing on speed, he has proven effective in both directions and shows a preference for firmer ground. His race videos provide an excellent appreciation of his looks, fluent action, and competitive temperament.
Bred and raced by the renowned Wertheimer family, Madero is by Champion stallion Lope de Vega and is the first foal out of Cordova, a winning daughter of the great Galileo. Cordova is herself a daughter of Listed winner Only Green, making her a half-sister to seven winners and a close relation to Group 1 winner Mondialiste.
Now rated 102, Madero will join the Hayes stable in late November and head straight to city-class. He will be given time to acclimatise before being aimed at an autumn campaign, with the potential to develop into a middle-distance stakes performer (1600m–2000m) through Sydney and Brisbane in the late autumn. He is sure to progress to Spring Carnival targets from there.
