Star D’Vega was purchased as a yearling by Archie Alexander as she presented great value, given the reports we’d heard about progeny of the sire coming out of the northern hemisphere – especially in relation to the fillies.

The decision to purchase was franked soon after, with two of Lope de Vega’s progeny recording Group 1 victories – Jemayel, a three-year-old filly, won the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary over 2000m at Deauville while Belardo, who had already won the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes as a two-year-old, backed that up with victory as a four-year-old entire in a the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes over 1609m.

Archie Alexander trains this filly at Ballarat. The environment from which our filly will be trained will suit.  The Ballarat training facilities, with straight uphill track, are ideal for this breed, given the European background of the sire. The facilities are as close to a European type training centre as is available in Australia.

Star D’Vega has been brought along slowly with Archie and given plenty of time to mature. We look forward to her breaking her maiden status in the foreseeable future once she steps up in distance.
