Fastnet Latina is a recent arrival to Australia and made his Australian race debut at Terang on Tuesday January 24 2017, winning impressively by almost 3 lengths over 1200m.
Fastnet Latina had three career starts in the USA, finishing strongly on each occasion. His last start 3rd placing was most impressive. He is seen as a 1600m-2000m plus horse, but has only been tried to 1600m to this stage. This makes his win over 1200m even more impressive.
As his moniker would suggest, Fastnet Latina is a son of Fastnet Rock. Fastnet Rock needs no introduction to Australian racing circles. He is out of La Chunga, a daughter of More Than Ready that won at Group 3 level on two occasions. Thus, he is a half-brother to the Listed-winner, Roheryn.
Fastnet Latina has now recovered from a minor tendon issue. A vet report on his soundness is available. We look forward to him continuing his career for Archie Alexander. Archie is showing promising signs as a trainer at the Ballarat training complex.
