STOP PRESS: Duke Of Ellington has impressive win on Saturday March 18 at Flemington over 2000m. Click here to read the article on Racing.com. Ciaron Maher was very pleased with the win and is now considering aiming the horse toward the Brisbane carnival and Warrnambool Cup.
Duke Of Ellington is a bay gelding by Duke Of Marmalade, out of the Woodman mare, Abime. Duke of Marmalade, a son of Danehill, is a sire of Group 1 winners Simple Verse, Star Of Seville and Nutan, as well as horses you would know in Australia like Big Orange (5th in 2015 Melbourne Cup) and Big Memory. Abime is a mare that keeps producing winners. They are generally hardy, sound gallopers that have long racing careers, winning often. Duke of Ellington’s brother, Aristote, has now won on 15 occasions.
With already four wins to his name, Duke of Ellington may have many more in store.
