Condamine is only three months into his racetrack career but has already run two promising placings prior to boarding the plane to Australia.
This Duke Of Marmalade gelding has a strong middle-distance and staying pedigree. He brings solid form to Australia from his limited career in the UK. Highlighted as an ideal candidate for Australian staying races, he relaxes beautifully in the run – allowing him to have plenty left in the tank at the tail-end of his races.
Duke Of Marmalade is a powerful Danehill sire that famously produced four classic winners in the 2015 season. OTI have a great affiliation with him through recent Flemington winner Duke Of Ellington.
Comdamine is out of Miracolia, a Montjeu mare who has already produced a winner. Mircaolia is a sister to the Group 3 winning Irish entire, Stagelight, and a three-quarter-sister to Abisola, a Group 3 winner in France over 2100M.
Condamine has only been to the races on four occasions but has shown a great deal of ability. He has been tractable in his races, settling both on speed and just forward of midfield. Prior to boarding the plane bound for Australia, he was most impressive over 2400M at Kempton when taking control of the race turning for home, only to be nabbed late by the ruling 4/9 favourite.
Matt Cumani will train the gelding in the idyllic surrounds at Ballarat. Although relatively new to senior training ranks, Matt is the son of legendary UK trainer, Luca, and has already forged a considerable reputation and garnered the respect of his peers.
The long, uphill sand track at Ballarat is perfect for these UK stayers and Matt has access to state-of-the-art facilities to assist in the preparation of horses.
This gelding is heading into full work and should be at the races over the winter months.
