Come On Vogue ’22

Secured with the help of leading agent Phill Cataldo, who was involved in the acquisition of the likes of I’m Thunderstruck, Aloisia, Mark Twain etc for OTI, we were delighted to walk away from the Karaka Sales with this bold colt by Almanzor.

Type – This is a gorgeous brown colt with a lovely nature and a good stride to match. He’s got plenty of substance, particularly for a late-November foal, but we expect him to lengthen into a lovely middle-distance type as he further matures.

Breeding – The colt is by Almanzor, a Champion European Three-Year-Old whose credentials as a stallion have only strengthened since being crowned Champion New Zealand First Season Sire. Numerous quality middle-distance horses are showcasing his talents, a clear highlight this season being his quinella in the Group 1 Sydney Cup, which included OTI’s own Athabascan. The colt’s dam, Come On Vogue is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Japonisme, in a family that has shown a good mix of speed and stamina.

Trainer – The colt will be in the care of Kris Lees from his Newcastle base. Kris is firmly entrenched amongst the top crop of trainers Australia-wide. A formidable trainer of winners, Kris is always represented strongly in black-type events and has a great array of facilities on hand, whether it be at Newcastle, Gold Coast or Ellalong Farm (spelling, freshening & pre-training).
