On his way to Australia following a successful European racing career that has recorded 1 win and 5 placings from 9 career starts. He has been tested at black-type level, finishing 5th in the Listed Derby du Languedoc. In his final start in France, he finished 2nd and was nabbed late by a promising Aga Khan horse.

We believe this is an excellent opportunity to race a quality colt, destined to contest valuable stakes races in Australia for Annabel Neasham.

Tophet (2yo Gelding)

Sire: Hellbent

Dam: Etoile

Trainer: Anthony and Sam Freedman (Mornington)

We see this colt as an ideal youngster for owners with a more modest budget. Like Lady Laguna, Elderberry, Indented Head and Nettles, all modestly priced horses, he fulfills the requirement of a potentially exciting racehorse – conformation, athleticism, and temperament.

Now placed with Anthony and Sam Freedman at their Pinecliff property, the Hellbent colt will undertake his first education program with the view of being ready to enter their racing stable in Spring. From there, he will be assessed with the aim of planning his racing career. On breeding, we would expect that to start towards the end of his 2yo season in the hope that he’ll be ready for the 3yo classics.

The colt himself is a most attractive looking, strong, athletic individual. On both conformation and breeding, he looks like a 1600m type, although his fluent movement may mean he could be effective at shorter distances.
