Few trainers know how to develop a Classic horse better than Roger James, whose remarkable seven New Zealand Derby victories have earned him the nickname ‘The Derby King’.
Victorium is a colt Roger and training partner Robert Wellwood have become increasingly excited about since his arrival in the stable. Impressed by his quality, athleticism and outstanding temperament, they believe he possesses all the attributes to develop into a serious middle-distance horse.
Now a two-year-old, Victorium has completed his early educational work and will return to full training in September. The expectation is that he will reach trial and race stage this season before progressing into a full three-year-old campaign, where Classic races will be firmly on his agenda.
From a pedigree perspective, this striking colt is by leading sire Almanzor, and is out of a Group-performed Stravinsky mare. He was bred and raised at the renowned Cambridge Stud, giving him the perfect start to life.
A 5% interest in this colt is priced at NZ$11,000 + GST. This figure covers all associated costs through to September 30, 2026, and insurance cover to July 31, 2027.
