Cinturato and Soverato destined for better things

After last week’s impressive performances from Sea Trader and Menzies, who both broke their maidens in style, the momentum continued over the weekend with Crespiano, Cinturato and Soverato all adding progressive 3-year-old victories to the tally.

Cinturato announced himself as a horse with a bright future when breaking his maiden in dominant fashion at Cranbourne on Friday. The Inglis Ready2Race graduate showed a touch of greenness when left alone in front, but once asked to quicken he put the race to bed easily.

The next target for him is the $500,000 1600m VOBIS Platinum Guineas, with a run over 1500m on Wednesday week pencilled in as a stepping stone. Jockey Lachlan Neindorf announced his high opinion of the horse post-race, saying “He’s a ripping horse, he’s going to reach some great heights I believe.”

Soverato continued her upward trajectory with a smart win on return against the older horses at Canterbury on Friday night, showing a sharp turn of foot that marked her as a filly with stakes potential. She’s likely to now head to the 1500m 3-year-old fillies BM72 on Wednesday week.

From there, she’s a filly who could well be seen in the 1600m Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic on March 13 before she’s put on a path towards the Australian Oaks. A traditional lead up, the 2000m Group 3 Adrian Knox, would be right on the radar.

We’re looking forward to seeing what level these two smart 3-year-olds can get to this autumn.
