Vin de Dance impresses Murray Baker following a strong trial

Vin de Dance is a step closer to a race debut after a strong trial win at Avondale earlier this week. The unraced son of Roc de Cambes, impressive in his work to date, looks a serious Derby prospect.  Trainers Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman appear to rate him highly.  Vin de Dance has been nominated for both the Guineas and Derby in the upcoming spring carnival.

Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman have an enviable record as a training partnership.  Most particularly with three-year-olds. In the autumn alone, they won both the ATC Derby with Jon Snow and the ATC Oaks with Bonneval.  Mongolian Khan and It’s a Dundeel are two others trained by the duo to great success.

After a strong barrier trial as a two-year-old at Waipa in April, Vin de Dance was put away for the late autumn/early winter period.  Various Derbies in his three-year-old season immediately became a prime goal.

Back in work now as a three-year-old, Vin de Dance has had two trials and is ready to head to the races.  As you will see in the attached video, his trial win earlier this week was full of merit.  He led from go to whoa in conditions that were not suitable.  He is a horse that will be better on top of the ground rather than the heavier conditions he is currently working in.

As a son of Roc de Cambes, after his three-year-old season he should then race on as an older horse.  He’s Our Rokkii, a Group One winning son of Roc de Cambes as a four-year-old, is a prime example of the ability of the breed to do so.

It promises to be an enjoyable ride for his owners.  Opportunities remain to be involved in this young galloper.
