OTI will be well represented at Flemington on Crown Oaks Day, with three in-form runners stepping out in what promises to be an exciting afternoon of racing.
Cloudland leads the way in the Subzero “Greys Race”, returning after his strong victory in the same event last year. The imposing grey returns in career-best form for Kris Lees and will be partnered by the in-form Ethan Brown. While he must give up to 7kg to some rivals, his class is undeniable, and he looks a big chance to make it back-to-back victories.
Cloudland wins the 2024 Subzero “Greys Race”
Next up is Fortune, who brings excellent form into his 1800m assignment with two city wins from his past three starts. With James McDonald in the saddle and the possible scratching of the race favourite, confidence is high that Fortune can continue his winning ways.
Fortune wins last start at Randwick.
Rounding out the day is Belthil, who gets his shot at the Country Final after being unlucky to miss out on the race last year. From a wide draw, jockey Harry Coffey will need to be patient, but the long Flemington straight should allow him to deliver his customary turn of foot. With $500,000 in prize money and strong representation from country trainers, this race is always a highlight of the carnival.
With fine weather forecast, Crown Oaks Day is set to deliver top-quality racing and a fantastic atmosphere. We wish the very best of luck to OTI owners involved.
