Gambu finished 10th, beaten 21 lengths at Gold Coast on Saturday. Advertised prizemoney for 10th was $470.

He began well from his barrier and settled in fourth position in a strongly run race. Luke helped him to travel through the mid-stages before coming under pressure at the 600m mark. He looked to be struggling in the heavy going turning for home and Luke eased him out of the race over the concluding stages to finish at the rear of the field. Luke said that even though he has raced on a wet track, it was just bottomless today and he really didn’t appreciate it. It was just too wet for him today.
We may look to take him back to the trials now, or simply a run on a better track. I will give you a further update on Monday once I know how he has come through the race.
