Behind the Scenes
Welcome to Behind the Scenes…
Where we will be providing you with an insight into the world of horse racing.
We believe that being a part of OTI is to also learn about what happens day to day in the running of a racing stable and the effort that is put into getting a horse to the races.
Over the next few months, we will be putting together a variety of ‘behind the scenes’ videos that will provide an informative look into our horses and their training regimes.
Our first release below highlights the importance of ‘jump outs’ in Australia. We follow one of OTI’s horses from her warm up in the walker, to her trial, rider feedback and cooling down. Trainer Matt Cumani also discusses how he incorporates jump outs into each horse’s racing preparation.
Rehabilitation with Matthew Williams
Our next feature edition of “Behind the Scenes” sees us explore the rehabilitation achievements of Warrnambool trainer Matthew Williams. Williams has a number of OTI horses stabled at his property who have all relished in the personalised attention and round the clock care. The facilities available to the team have ensured an abundance of winners and rehabilitation success stories. Williams in conjunction with Ballarat vet Andrew Cust, have been integral elements in Gailo Chop’s return to the racetrack. We are looking forward to seeing their injury management program come to fruition when Gailo has his first start this preparation and heads toward the 2019 Cox Plate.
Joseph O’Brien – Ireland
Last year during a trip to Europe, Terry Henderson visited Joseph O’Brien’s yard in Ireland and created a behind the scenes look into his incredible training facilities. This special feature provided a detailed insight into the differences in training from Australia to Europe. Terry was lucky enough to visit Joseph’s busy yard ‘Owning Hill’ in County Kilkenny. We hope you enjoy seeing the incredible gallops and how a stable of this size and calibre runs on a day to day basis.
