A Big Story yet to be written

In the vast world of thoroughbred racing, each and every horse has their own story. Some are colossal tales of glory and success, and others are tightly kept accounts of the unique relationship shared between human and horse. OTI Racing has recently acquired a New Zealand bred 2yo by the name of Big Story, and with a combination of pedigree and demonstrated ability, we are hopeful that his story is a mighty one.

Big Story is by the son of Savabeel’s What’s The Story, whose tale is one of victory winning his first start over 1200m by three lengths. It is evident that bursts of speed run rich throughout his bloodline with the dam Isola Bella victorious over 1200m twice.

He himself is an imposing bay gelding who stands at 16 hands high and possesses a swift, loose action. He has dominated both his trials, once closing his last 200m in 11 seconds after jumping expertly, which is indicative of his maturity and natural speed.

The immediate plan for him is to debut at Avondale over 1300m on April 2 before taking on the Listed Champagne Stakes over 1600m at Pukekohe on April 23. Whilst contesting these races in New Zealand, he will stay with his existing trainer Clinton Isdale before being shipped to Australia to commence the next chapter of his career. He will then be placed in the astute stable of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, who will decide if his 2yo season will continue to Queensland in May/June, or whether he instead rests in preparation for a Melbourne Spring 3yo campaign.

Big Story is an emerging prospect who has demonstrated a lot of ability in his educational trials. A winning debut this coming Saturday could be the start of a most exciting journey.
